Hull City agree deal to sign Hatayspor midfielder Adama Traore on two-year-deal

Hull City have agreed a deal in principle to sign Malian international Adama Traore on a free transfer. Traore, who spent last season at Turkish outfit Hatayspor, will link up with the Tigers in the coming weeks.

The 26-year-old, who operated as an attacking midfielder for Hatayspor, has signed a two year deal at the MKM Stadium, with the option of an extra year added on.

He made 17 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig this season, helping Hatayspor to a 13th place league finish. Unfortunately for the Malian midfielder, these appearances all came in the first-half of the season, with injuries ruining the latter half of his campaign. Traore also played in all four of Mali's African Cup of Nations games too this season.

Turkish reporter Ertan Süzgün tweeted this morning: "Hull City signed a 2+1 year contract with Adama Traore from Hatayspor," and Hull Live can now confirm Traore will join the Tigers for their 2022/23 Championship campaign.

Once a promising prospect, Traore joined Monaco in 2015 for a fee reported to be around the £12m mark. He made 27 appearances in all competitions for the French side including a handful of showings in the Champions League.

The midfielder failed to really make a mark at Monaco, though, being sent out on loan on three different occasions during his time in France.

He will become City's first signing of the summer, after rebuilding his career in Turkey, as owner Acun Ilicali and manager Shota Arveladze look to get the Tigers back to challenging at the top end of the Championship table.
