Huddersfield Town target set for remaining games with automatic promotion hopes discussed

Carlos Corberan has called on his players to maintain their hunger and determination over the final few games of the season despite a top six finish being practically within their grasp after their 0-2 win over Middlesbrough. In spite of that, Corberan refused to acknowledge the idea that they have achieved their objective already, saying: “I am a coach that doesn’t believe in the mathematics in football. I don’t like them.

"I think that we need to be focused just on adding the maximum number of points because we know the more points we add, the more options we have to finish in a good position in the table. That’s going to be our mentality until the last moment of the last game of the season.

“For me the target every time you are playing football has to be always to go for the games. So now our focus is to enjoy today and the moment, because in the same [way] that when you have a defeat you need to assimilate a little bit the pain of the defeat, today is the moment for the players to celebrate and enjoy winning, especially for me a deserved win that was created with a lot of strong mentality and a lot of hard work from every single player that was on the football pitch.

“Then from tomorrow we will start the process to recover, to prepare the players and to prepare for the next game that is only three days later.”
