Huddersfield Town recall defender from Motherwell loan spell

Motherwell’s squad has been further reduced after Huddersfield Town exercised their option to recall Brodie Spencer from his loan.

The Northern Irish defender was initially on a season-long loan.

Spencer, 19, made 18 appearances and his last was in the 3-1 home win over Livingston on Saturday, which ended a 15-game winless run in the Premiership.

He was suspended for the 2-2 draw at Hibs yesterday.

Boss Stuart Kettlewell told the club’s website: “The loan market has been important in our recruitment this season and Brodie’s has been a very successful one for both player and club.

“We’re, of course, disappointed to lose Brodie earlier than initially anticipated but full understand the decision made by Huddersfield.

“Brodie made a real impact in his time here and gained valuable game time and experience, which has got him back into the Northern Ireland setup also.

“I want to thank Huddersfield for their co-operation and sincerely wish Brodie the very best for the rest of the season.”

Spencer said: “I want to thank everyone at Motherwell for all the help and support during my time at the club.

“It’s been such a great experience and I believe I’m a better player for my time up in Scotland. I wish the club, the supporters and everyone involved all the best for the future.”
