Huddersfield Town key figure reveals the Terriers’ transfer strategies

Huddersfield Town had a good season under the management of Carlos Corberan finishing the league sat third in the table and making it to the play-off final. 

Unfortunately for the Terriers, they were beaten by a Nottingham Forest side at Wembley that were the better team on the day – though they will feel disappointed that the deciding goal was a Levi Colwill own goal.

Nevertheless, Huddersfield will now be looking ahead to next season with a positive mindset hoping that they can get their recruitment right to push on next year.

Since Leigh Bromby took over as head of football operations, many feel as though the Terriers’ recruitment has improved something they will be looking to continue to show this summer.

Reflecting on last season’s recruitment and its success, Bromby told Yorkshire Live: “Most conversations were around January time, so we were obviously trying to identify players for that window. We always knew even when Carlos first came in that the window was going to be the key window. We knew exactly what we could spend, we knew where the budget would be, we knew there would be an opportunity to bring players in because of players leaving.

“Maybe for the 12 months when Carlos started we knew it was significant and it was trying to put those things in place. We knew we were going to go for free transfers; it wasn’t the market to spend money, and we knew there were going to be players out of contract at value, so there was no point going into the market and thinking right, we’ll spend money in the transfer window because not many clubs were.
