Huddersfield Town defender Romoney Crichlow joins Mark Hughes revamp at Bradford City

Huddersfield Town defender Romoney Crichlow has joined his B-team colleague Kian Harratt in heading to League Two side Bradford City on a season-long loan.

A left-footed centre-back, Crichlow spent the first half of last season on loan in the same division with Swindon Town, where he won plaudits for his performances as he made 24 appearances in all competitions.

That meant the now-23 year old attracted interest from the league above and he duly joined Plymouth Argyle for the rest of the season in January, but made just three appearances as the Pilgrims finished one position and three points outside the League One play-off places.

Terriers loan manager David Fox said: “This is a fantastic move and opportunity for Romoney in a division where he was a standout defender last season. Bradford City are a club we know well having also agreed to send Kian Harratt on loan there for the season, and they have huge aspirations for the campaign ahead, so that pressure to succeed will be a good test.

“Mark Hughes is a successful manager and has coached some hugely talented players at some very big clubs, so the chance for Romoney to learn from him and push himself to play regularly and excel in Sky Bet League Two again is something I’m excited to see.”

Crichlow has made six first-team appearances for the Terriers, all in Carlos Corberan’s first season in charge at the John Smith’s Stadium in 2020/21, and scored his first goal for the club in a 2-3 FA Cup defeat to Plymouth in January 2021.

Bradford City have already got off to a busy start to the transfer window as they look to rebuild under former Manchester City and Stoke City manager Hughes, who was appointed in February.
