Huddersfield Town target free agent Conor Hourihane
Huddersfield Town are one of a number of clubs interested in signing Conor Hourihane, as per reports from Daily Mail. Hourihane is available as a free agent after his contract expired at Premier League side Aston Villa on July 1. Carlos Corberan will be on the hunt for a new midfielder, especially with midfield mainstay Lewis O’Brien heavily linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.
The Terriers face competition from Derby County and Luton Town for his signature. The 31-year-old is vastly experienced at Championship level having previously played for Barnsley, Villa, Swansea City and Sheffield United respectively in the second-tier. Hourihane spent six years at Villa Park and was an ever-present as they earned promotion back to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs in 2019.
The Republic of Ireland international has spent the last two seasons on-loan at Swansea City and Sheffield United respectively – reaching the play-offs with both clubs. He started his career at Sunderland before signing for Ipswich but didn't play a single minute for either.
He relaunched his career in League Two at Plymouth Argyle and spent a further three seasons at Barnsley, who he helped earn promotion to the Championship in 2016.
