How to watch The Instigators in new Matt Damon and Casey Affleck comedy film

A new comedy heist film, The Instigators, starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck is set to hit Apple TV+. Directed by Doug Liman, the film follows Rory, a father played by Matt Damon, and Cobby, a former criminal portrayed by Casey Affleck, as they attempt and fail to rob a corrupt politician of his ill-gotten gains.

The plot thickens as the duo find themselves chased not only by the police but also by corrupt officials and revenge-seeking crime bosses. Penned by Chuck MacLean and Affleck, The Instigators boasts a star-studded supporting cast including Hong Chau, Michael Stuhlbarg, Alfred Molina, Ron Pearlman, and Ving Rhames.

Early reviews for the film have been mixed, but viewers will soon be able to form their own opinions. This is how you can catch this new release.

The Instigators is set to launch globally on Apple TV+ on August 9, 2024. Like other new releases on Apple TV+, it will be available on the streaming platform from 12am Eastern Time.

The film will be released at 5am in the UK.

Apple TV+ has released a plot synopsis for the film: "Rory (Matt Damon) and Cobby (Casey Affleck) are reluctant partners: a desperate father and an ex-con thrown together to pull off a robbery of the ill-gained earnings of a corrupt politician. But when the heist goes wrong, the two find themselves engulfed in a whirlwind of chaos, pursued not only by police, but also backwards bureaucrats and vengeful crime bosses.

"Completely out of their depth, they convince Rory's therapist (Hong Chau) to join their riotous getaway through the city, where they must put aside their differences and work together to evade capture - or worse."
