How Man City can still sell players after transfer deadline day

Transfer deadline day often means clubs rushing to complete deals before the 11pm cut-off. It may not be any different at Man City, with concentration on outgoings.

City have been active in the summer window, bringing in Savinho from Troyes. The club have also completed a transfer to bring Ilkay Gundogan back to the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he is not expecting any incomings before the end of the window, with exits instead the news of the day. Julian Alvarez, Joao Cancelo, Tommy Doyle, Sergio Gomez and Taylor Harwood-Bellis are the players to leave the club so far, but they could be joined by more.

Matheus Nunes has been linked with an exit ahead of the deadline, with Atletico Madrid linked with an interest. There has however reported to be no formal bid named.

The Portugal international could face a race against time to move away from the Etihad Stadium before the deadline. But he could be given a lifeline even after the 11pm deadline passes.

That’s due to leagues in other countries having different deadlines to the one in England. The four main leagues to keep an eye on are the Saudi Pro League, where the window closes on Monday (September 2).

The same date applies for clubs who play in Portugal and the Netherlands. Clubs in Turkey have slightly longer to complete deals, with the deadline not coming until two weeks time.
