How Eoin Doyle's Bolton Wanderers scouting role is helping identify transfer market targets

Ian Evatt expects big conversations to happen this summer following scouting done by former striker Eoin Doyle over the players in the League of Ireland which Bolton Wanderers ought to be keeping their eye on for future transfers.

The 33-year-old has moved back to his native Ireland to St Patrick's Athletic and put pen to paper on a long-term contract at the Dublin side.

The forward has been Wanderers' vice-captain and scored 19 goals for the University of Bolton Stadium club as Ian Evatt's side won promotion out of League Two.

Doyle left the University of Bolton Stadium club with 27 goals in 72 appearances in all competitions.

He has since returned to his hometown of Dublin and signed at St Pat's for whom he has scored three goals in eight games so far.

But as part of his move back home, Doyle is undertaking a scouting role too, feeding back information to Wanderers and his old boss Evatt about the talents in the Irish top flight which they ought to be keeping an eye on for future transfers.

The striker speaks with technical performance director Chris Markham about potential targets and Evatt comes in at a later stage when decisions have to be ultimately made on which players Wanderers will go after.

And Evatt believes it is a market which Wanderers can take advantage of and that in Doyle, they have the perfect eyes on the ground to identify talent which can be Bolton players in the future.

Evatt told the Manchester Evening News: "He has more contact with Chris (Markham) than he does with myself. I’ll come in at the very late stages of recruitment.

"But for now I think it’s going okay, it’s going well. Eoin is settled
