How Bolton Wanderers will approach Lloyd Isgrove injury recovery and why he won't have operation

Lloyd Isgrove will not be going under the knife again to repair damage to a hamstring injury which has reoccured after the Bolton Wanderers winger lost confidence with with surgical route.

The winger has been out of action since late November for Wanderers and recently returned to action against Fleetwood Town's reserves at Lostock during the international break.

Isgrove started the game but was withdrawn midway through the first half as he limped off in what was initially thought to be a precaution.

But Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has revealed that Isgrove has suffered a reoccurance of the problem. It means that Isgrove is out for the rest of the season and will be back in action within the next three to four months, so all focus is now being ready for pre-season ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

The chance of the injury reoccuring was five per cent, something that has unfortunately befallen a desperately unlucky Isgrove.

But the winger will not be having surgery again, Evatt has said, and instead will use PRP injections which invovled using a patient's own blood to accelerate healing, as well as gym work.

And the Bolton boss is confident the winger will be fine as the strong character approaches his rehabilitation.

Evatt told the Manchester Evening News: “We’re going to rehabilitate it cautiously and without surgery. I think Lloyd’s lost a bit of confidence with the surgical route after what’s happened and I can’t disagree with that opinion to be honest.

“It doesn’t change things really for him.

"He’s having some PRP injections which will help strengthen the area and then we’ll rehabilitate it naturally with gym
