Horror footage of moment teenager is stabbed in vicious attack outside Wigan bus station

Horror footage has revealed the moment a teenager was stabbed in a vicious attack outside Wigan bus station on Thursday (July 18).

Police and paramedics, along with an air ambulance, were scrambled to the scene to reports of a stabbing. Two men have since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Video footage was later shared across social media, appearing to show the 19-year-old victim lying defenceless on the floor as onlookers watch on in horror.

A figure is seen shouting and towering over the victim, grabbing him with one hand and raising a knife in the other, before he launched a number of swipes at him.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed they are aware of the footage and have since arrested two men, aged 30 and 19, on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim, aged 19, was rushed to hospital. His injuries are not described as life-threatening.

A number of police vehicles blocked the main road as an air ambulance was seen landing nearby following the incident. Roads surrounding the market were also closed.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Emergency services are responding to a stabbing on Market Street in Wigan this afternoon. A man aged 19 has suffered injuries which are not life-threatening. He has been taken to hospital for treatment.

"Two men, aged 30 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The scene remains in place while officers conduct their enquiries."

Inspector Sam Davies, of GMP's Wigan District, said: “Officers responded to the incident immediately and pursued the offenders. Both suspects remain in our custody and a knife has been recovered.
