Heartstopper season 2 on Netflix: Release date, episodes, new characters and everything else we know
The moment Heartstopper fans have been waiting for is almost here. Season two of the LGBTQ+ teen drama drops on Netflix this week, with more chaos from Truham Boys and Higgs Girls schools on the way.
The series, based on Alice Oseman's graphic novels of the same name, centres around popular rugby player Nick Nelson, played by Kit Connor, and caring Charlie Spring, played by Joe Locke, who become unlikely friends. Their friendship turns into something more as Nick struggles with his sexual identity while Charlie, who is already out as gay, continues to face homophobic abuse from peers at school.
Charlie's new-found infatuation with Nick caused tension among his own friendship group. Tao Xu, portrayed by William Gao, finds himself alone as Charlie spends more time with Nick while their friend Elle Argent - played by Manchester actress Yasmin Finney - has moved to Higgs Girls school after transitioning and struggles to make friends.

As Charlie spends more time alone with Nick, so too does Tao and Elle. Sparks begin to fly as Elle realises she likes Tao as more than a friend, but Tao seems oblivious.
Series one ended during the summer holidays, as Nick and Charlie agree to become boyfriends. Nick, who faced pressure from friends to date girls throughout the school term, told his mother that he was bisexual in emotional scenes.
The trailer for season two shows Nick and Charlie vow to tell the world about their relationship - if only they can find the right time. Here is everything we know so far ahead of the season two release.
