'He will do it' - Ian Wright makes Rasmus Hojlund prediction at Manchester United

Ian Wright is delighted that Rasmus Hojlund has been able to break his Premier League duck.

The attacker missed Manchester United’s clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday due to illness so was unable to build on his confidence-boosting strike against Aston Villa on Boxing Day. The goal took him up to six for the season having netted five times in the Champions League.

Wright says he feels sympathy for the 20-year-old, who has been tasked with being the main striker for United despite his tender age. Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, the former Arsenal attacker said: “You can’t look at Rasmus Hojlund and say this man isn’t trying.

“This man is trying. And the goal he scored in the small area where he scored, you won’t say it was a tap-in. He still finished it and finished it in a way where you think, yeah, get the ball in and around him and this guy can manoeuvre.”

Wright added: “He will do it. He will make it happen. Get it in there for him. So, for him to score, you just felt relief for this poor guy. He is 20 and it is arguably one of the worst periods in Manchester United’s history, one of them.

"You have got a 20-year-old who has been brought in for a fortune, who has not scored yet in the Premier League, and he scores.

“The relief, the release, you could feel his emotions. His family was probably crying. I am pleased for him, I am really, really pleased for him.”
