Rasmus Hojlund makes surprising statement about Manchester United performance vs Tottenham

Rasmus Hojlund believes Manchester United were the better side against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

United had the opportunity to win two games in the space of a week and they made the perfect start to the clash when taking the lead in the third minute through Hojlund. It didn't take long for Spurs to draw level after a header from Richarlison, but Marcus Rashford restored the lead just before half-time with a brilliant finish.

United went into the break with a 2-1 lead, although whatever Erik ten Hag said in the dressing room was quickly made redundant with Tottenham equalising immediately after the interval.

Rodrigo Bentancur drove into the box and finished with his left foot. Andre Onana failed to stand his ground and the goalkeeper could have also done better for Spurs' first goal from the corner.

Tottenham enjoyed the bulk of possession after drawing level but the points were shared, leaving United on 32 points in the table and eight adrift of the top four.

Hojlund spoke to MUTV after the final whistle and he was asked whether he was frustrated with the result. He said: "Yeah, of course, when you go in front two times, we are a little bit disappointed.

"We played a good game, but switched off a few times and that's why we were punished, but I think in general, we were the better team today. I haven't seen my goal back but it was instinct, pure instinct.

"I was happy to give Marcus an assist today, he's been assisting me many times throughout the season. I was very happy to give back to him and we have a great relationship, on and off the pitch. He's a good bloke.
