Harry Maguire names two traits Manchester United showed to win against Aston Villa

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is delighted with Sunday's win against Aston Villa and he believes the team's 'spirit and fight' was key in securing the result.

Rasmus Hojlund has been in excellent form over the last few weeks and he scored his fifth goal in his last five appearances when finding the back of the net against Aston Villa.

United went into the break with a one-goal advantage, but Andre Onana had been kept busy throughout the opening 45 minutes and Villa began the second half as strongly as they ended the first.

Following the resumption of play, it seemed like only a matter of time before Villa would equalise and they finally found a breakthrough in the 67th minute thanks to Douglas Luiz.

Both managers reacted to that goal by making substitutions and Scott McTominay was introduced to the game, which proved to be an inspired decision because the midfielder scored a late matchwinner when powerfully heading home a beautiful cross from Diogo Dalot.

That goal was McTominay's eighth of the season in all competitions. He has seven goals in the league to his name and that's more than in his previous three campaigns combined (6).

Maguire spoke to Sky Sports after the win and said: "I think we started well, scored to deservedly lead and then the tempo of our pressing dropped off, and we weren’t aggressive enough. We allowed them back in, and we conceded from a set play, which is really disappointing at a place like this.
