Harry Kewell set for Celtic 'exit' as coach lined up as front runner for Yokohama Marinos job

Harry Kewell could be set to leave Celtic, with reports suggesting the coach is the frontrunner for the Yokohama Marinos job.

The Australian could be about to replace former Rangers star and the man who battled it out with Philippe Clement in the race to succeed Michael Beale at Ibrox in Kevin Muscat. His fellow countryman left the J-League side on Thursday, with Kewell now inserted by outlet Sponichi as the next boss at Yokohama. Kewell joined Ange Postecoglou on his Celtic adventure back in 2022, becoming coach at Parkhead and continued to be part of Brendan Rodgers' set up this campaign. He could now be set for his first full managerial post since 2021.

The former Liverpool star has been in talks progressing “smoothly” according to the report, and could be set to end an 18-month stint in Glasgow. Kewell previously managed the likes of Notts County and Oldham before taking up the role at Lennoxtown.

Postecoglou was lured to Celtic from Marinos in the summer of 2021 after ending their long drought for a trophy with the J-League title.
