Dujon Sterling in bullish Celtic warning as Rangers star declares his side are 'hungry' for more silverware

Dujon Sterling has warned Celtic that Rangers now have a taste for trophies.

The Ibrox ace - who is emerging as a key player for Phillippe Clement’s in-form side - picked up the first silverware of his career with a Viaplay Cup winners medal. And having sampled trophy success at Hampden, Sterling says they have the appetite to plunder more this season. Rangers have clawed back Celtic’s lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table ahead of next week’s pivotal Old Firm clash at Parkhead.

They’ve yet to lose a game since Clement took charge, while their Glasgow rivals’ form has dipped. Sterling, who is being used in midfield by his Belgian boss, insists they’re on a mission to collect every piece of silverware available to them this term. With a first trophy in the bag - and the title, Scottish Cup and Europa League still to play for - the 24-year-old said: “Everyone is in a happier place here now.

“There are good spirits around the building and hopefully that continues. Winning that first trophy means we are hungry for more by the end of the season. We want to rack up as much silverware as we can. Now that we have one - the ambition is to go and get more now.”

Sterling struggled to get game time under previous gaffer Michael Beale who signed him from Chelsea in the summer. But he’s flourishing under Clement in the heart of Rangers’ engine room and should start today’s Premiership game against Motherwell at Fir Park.

Sterling said: “The manager has obviously played a big part but it’s a collective by the team. We’ve bought into what he wants us to do and we’re executing it on the pitch. That’s why we’re still unbeaten under him.”
