Manchester United takeover latest as Sheikh Jassim 'set for investment talks' as Sir Jim Ratcliffe deal 'delayed'

Manchester United are still waiting for the green light when it comes to the minority takeover.

INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to complete his 25 per cent purchase shortly. However, as things stand, there has been no formal announcement as everyone involved continues to play the waiting game. The deal is said to be worth £1.25billion and Ratcliffe will, initially, work alongside the Glazer family.

The timing of investment remains important for matters on and off the pitch, with the January transfer window set to open in just a few weeks' time. Here, we take a closer look at the latest headlines regarding the deal;

Reports from The Daily Mail reckon there has been another delay when it comes to the takeover announcement. Officials had hoped to rubber-stamp and broadcast the 25 per cent purchase - headed up by Ratcliffe - before the Champions League game with Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on Tuesday, December 12.

However, there is now a feeling that will not happen until the week commencing Monday, December 18.

There has been no complication or obstacle with the proposal, as such, but sources over in the United States put the delay down to 'legal structures' between the parties involved. The Daily Mail state that a pre-Christmas date is still the most-likely scenario.
