Harry Kewell feels Marinos fan fury as former Celtic coach stands and takes pelters for dismal record

Harry Kewell is facing the heat at Yokohama F. Marinos after fans voiced their frustrations with a loud chorus of boos and jeers.

The former Celtic coach - who left his role at Parkhead at the end of last year for the top job in Japan - suffered a home defeat to Tokyo Verdy, which followed up a defeat on the road to Avispa Fukuoka. The latest result leaves the Marinos languishing in 12th spot in the J League standings with just seven wins from 20 outings so far this campaign.

They trail league leaders Machida Zelvia by 17 points. He's now been in the role just over six months but the fans are currently less than impressed and let the coach and his players know after their latest defeat. A video shared online shows the players standing pitch side as the anger from the stands erupts. The Aussie was then ushered away with the rest of his squad as the fan fury continued.

The games come tick and fast for Kewell and Co who face Sagan Tosu at home in their next outing on Wednesday. They currently sit 18th in the league and in the final relegation zone and another defeat would leave Yokohama just six points above their J-League rival. It's then an away trip to Gamba Osaka three days laster before an Emperor's Cup third round clash with Mito HollyHock next midweek with Kashima Antlers visiting a few days later in a period of four games in just 11 days.

On his exit from Celtic late last year, Kewell said: “I would like to thank Celtic for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to be part of one of the world’s great football clubs. It has been an absolute privilege to work
