Hannibal Mejbri could take on four Manchester United teammates after latest Tunisia call-up

Manchester United teenager Hannibal Mejbri has been called up by Tunisia for their upcoming international friendly against Brazil later this month.

The midfielder is currently on a season-long loan at Birmingham after featuring for the Reds' senior side against Liverpool and Crystal Palace last term before being included in Erik ten Hag’s pre-season tour squad.

The 19-year-old has already been capped 16 times by his nation, with two appearances coming in January’s Africa Cup of Nations and six coming in the country's Arab Cup triumph last year. He is one of many United players expected to play at this winter’s World Cup.

Among them are Brazilians Casemiro, Fred and Antony. All three are likely to be called into Tite’s roster for the friendly with Tunisia on September 27 with Alex Telles, currently on loan at Sevilla, also potentially making the cut.

Hannibal played 77 minutes across three games over the summer before being deemed surplus to requirements for this season by Ten Hag. The youngster was praised by Gary Neville for “showing something” a few months earlier in United’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.

He’s made two appearances for Birmingham so far, coming on as a substitute against Norwich and Preston. “He has come on in the two games, he has certainly made an impact,” head coach John Eustice said.

“We will see in the next game, he might be starting, he might not be. He is obviously a quality player, we are very fortunate to have him here.” Birmingham travel to out-of-form West Brom on Wednesday evening where Hannibal could be in line for more minutes.
