Hamilton Accies striker Akheem Rose causes mayhem for defences and there's more to come from him, says boss

Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin says the best is yet to come from January signing Akheem Rose after the striker netted for the sixth time in his last five games in yesterday's win over Edinbugh City.

The Ayr United loanee turned home Reghan Tumilty's cross two minutes before half-time to earn a narrow 1-0 win over League One's bottom side.

The overall peformance of the team was branded "absolutely disgusting" by Rankin post-match and he also felt Rose didn't have his most impressive showing for the club.

But Rankin revealed the Jamaican was playing with a slight injury - which forced him to come off midway through the second half - and he expects him to causes even more "mayhem" for defences once relationships with his team-mates strengthen.

Asked about Rose delivering for them again, Rankin said: "I thought it was his poorest performance since he has been here, if Iam being honest.

"He has been struggling with his calf the last few days and when he got his knock we thought it was his calf at the time, so we couldn't take that risk and leabve him on the pitch any longer.

"But you see how important he is for us.

"He is a focal point. He is not the biggest but he uses his body really well, he wins flick ons, he causes mayhem.

"Once we get that relationship with him and the players about how to run and when to run, he will make a huge difference.

"He is obviously making an impact in front of goal but his all-round play, when the relationships grow, I think he will be a real find for us.

"We obviously have him on loan from Ayr until the end of the season and he has scored six goals so far.

"He plays with a smile on his face and even though he was struggling with his calf, he is telling me he is fine and he is smiling
