Greater Manchester weekend weather as glorious sunshine to come to an abrupt end

It has been a scorching week in Greater Manchester as we have been treated to our first heatwave of 2024.

With beer gardens overflowing and parks filled to the brim, you could be forgiven for thinking summer has come early this year. But while these balmy temperatures will continue into the weekend, we'll see an abrupt end to the sun.

If you're hoping to make the most of the weather, Saturday (May 11) is the day to slap on the suncream and get outside, as over the next few days, the weather is set to make an abrupt turn.

You can read the full Greater Manchester weather forecast below.

Saturday will start off warm and bright, with temperatures of 18C by 9am. These will continue to climb throughout the day, reaching a high of 23C by 2pm.

There will be some cloud, but the day will largely be bright, dry, and very warm, with temperatures lingering at around 19C by 10pm. It looks to be a cloudy but very warm night in the region.

Sunday will start off cloudy but warm. We should see some sun in the morning, with highs of 18C by 9am.

However, the pleasant weather will come to an abrupt end in the afternoon, with rain forecast from around 2pm. There is a yellow weather warning in place for thunderstorms, which the Met Office currently predict will take place between 7pm-8pm.

We're set to see showers from 2pm well into the night, bringing an end to the sunny dry weather we've seen this week.
