Greater Manchester's Met Office hour by hour weather forecast amid flood warning
Many in Greater Manchester are preparing to return to work and school today after the Christmas break. But commuters are being warned to take care on the roads following a yellow weather warning for rain in the region.
We've had our fair share of volatile weather over Christmas as Storms Pia and Gerrit battered the country - the latter even bringing a 'localised tornado' to Stalybridge. And that wet weather looks set to continue into 2024.
An urgent 'act now' flood warning is in place in part of Greater Manchester this morning, with more heavy rain forecast across the day. Three other flood warnings are also in place across the region, with the weather also causing some disruption on public transport links.
