Greater Manchester is getting its first ever pug café with a huge ball pit and dog-themed cakes

A new café concept is coming to Greater Manchester that will please anyone who likes the idea of having ten excitable and friendly pugs roam around them as they sip on a cup of coffee.

Already a popular venue in London, Cuppapug will be opening its first café in the North West on Chapel Street in Salford this Friday (March 1). The idea is that you can book yourself in for an hour and play with the dogs or just simply enjoy their company.

Created by couple Aaron Carty and Matthew Pieterse, Cuppapug has been a big success in London since it opened its doors in 2022. The café is so popular that it is now booked out for weeks in advance, with people desperate to spend time with the resident pugs.

Alongside a big ball pit and toys for the pugs to play with, the café will also serve a host of dog-themed cakes and drinks to order. There will also be a number of dog-friendly items, like puppuccinos, on the menu too.

“We initially set the café up as a place where people can just play with the pugs,” co-owner Aaron explains to the M.E.N about how the business began. “In London, most people can’t have their own dogs due to accommodation or whatever it may be so it allows them to have the experience of a dog for at least an hour.

“The response was phenomenal right out the gate. It absolutely exploded, we’ve been fully booked from day one and we’re usually booked two to three weeks in advance now.”

Aaron, who has seven pugs with partner Matthew, says the café concept was also created as a way to help fund vet bills for a number of their rescue dogs.
