Greater Manchester hour-by-hour weather forecast as Met Office thunderstorm warning in place

Thunderstorms and heavy showers are set to hit Greater Manchester today after the UK recorded its hottest day of the year so far.

Temperatures of almost 26C were recorded yesterday on Saturday (May 11), making it the warmest day we've enjoyed up until now.

East Sussex saw the hottest levels at 25.9C while Cassley in northern Scotland recorded 25.7C. Gogerddan in Wales had 25.1C and temperatures peaked at 23.8C in Magilligan in Northern Ireland.

But forecasters now predict thunderstorms and heavy rain could be on the way with three weather warnings set in place.

Yellow warnings for thunderstorms will cover large parts of the UK, including Greater Manchester, from this morning onwards (Sunday, May 12).

The warning covering our region will come into effect at 1pm and will last until 11pm.

The weather service said the warning could leave spray and sudden flooding leading to difficult driving conditions. This could also affect trains and buses while power cuts may take place.

The Met Office said: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to some disruption in places, especially to travel. Isolated property flooding is possible."

Here's the hour-by-hour forecast for every Greater Manchester borough for Sunday (May 12):
