Greater Manchester forecast as more bad weather set to roll in

There is more chance of bad weather hitting the region tomorrow as rain continues to roll into Greater Manchester.

Weather warnings have been put in place across the country over the past few days. An Atlantic low-pressure system is bringing unseasonably strong winds, and heavy rain or showers to many places across the UK over the coming days.

National Severe Weather Warnings for wind, rain and thunderstorms have been issued, showing the potential for impacts such as travel disruption to large swathes of northern England this weekend.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Andy Page, said: “This is an unusual time of year for such strong winds and, with many people on holiday or planning outdoor activities, they are likely to cause some disruption. In addition, heavy rain and thunderstorms could lead to standing water and spray on roads and consequently difficult driving conditions. Winds are expected to ease through the evening.

“Temperatures are expected to stay near average or rather cool over the coming days especially in the rain and wind.”

Today in Greater Manchester, July 16, will see cloud breaking to leave a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, though these are generally lighter than on recent days, according to the Met Office. It will be another windy day, but somewhat less so than on Saturday, with the maximum temperature 20C.

Scattered blustery showers will continue into this evening but these will turn more isolated overnight as many places become dry. Winds will ease markedly but staying rather breezy in coastal areas with a minimum temperature 10C, says the forecaster.
