Grandpa Greene's new Saddleworth park cafe and restaurant has opened its doors

A popular ice-cream company has revealed a first glimpse of its new cafe and restaurant in Uppermill. Grandpa Greene's has opened its new space in King George V Playing Fields on Wade Row for takeaway ahead of the full launch of its cafe next Friday (June 9).

The new spot has been built in the former public toilets at the edge of the park, and will serve up ice creams, hot and cold drinks, and a range of sandwiches. Teasing the opening on social media, the luxury ice cream specialists shared a video giving a “taster of what’s to come”, before opening fully from next week.

It marks the second outpost for the luxury ice cream makers whose flagship parlour and cafe bar is nestled in the rolling green hills of Diggle. Featuring glass-fronted terraces, and indoor dining room and waterfront seating, it's a popular spot with daytrippers visiting the canal and adjacent obstacle adventure course.
