Graeme Souness has Ridvan Yilmaz Rangers verdict flipped on its head following bizarre Alex Salmond Turkey team up

Ridvan Yilmaz appears to have flipped Graeme Souness' verdict on his Rangers future on its head.

The Turkey defender - who missed the weekend win over Hibs due to injury during the international break - has been linked with a return to his homeland during his time in Glasgow after finding himself out in the cold for large periods of time due to injuries and selection under previous managers Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale.

Borna Barisic was largely the preferred full-back but with his contract up in the summer and Yilmaz's form, he's found himself more in the thick of the action under Philippe Clement as his troops battle Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title, with a Treble still on the cards after a League Cup win and a Scottish Cup semi to come.. He also featured in both Europa League last 16 ties with Benfica - playing the full 90 in both

Souness - speaking to Turkish broadcast service TRT in a bizarre link-up with former First Minister Alex Salmond - told how he reckons the full-back was potentially looking to return to Turkey. He said: “We’ve got a young guy in Glasgow, Ridvan Yilmaz, who I saw play for Rangers in the Old Firm game three weeks ago, and he was one of the best players on the pitch.

"Unfortunately, from a Rangers perspective, I’m hearing he’s not terribly settled in Scotland and maybe looking to get back here [to Turkey].”
