Alfredo Morelos hits lowpoint as Rangers hero bombed OUT of Santos squad and could have contract terminated

Misfit Alfredo Morelos has reportedly bombed so badly at Santos that he has been exiled to their reserve squad - and could have his contract ripped up if he doesn't find himself a move.

The Rangers hero joined Santos at the end of last season in Brazil but struggled to make an impact in their top flight as they were relegated to Serie B. In the summer, he signed a heavily incentivised new deal, cutting his base salary dramatically in exchange for eye-watering goal and performance bonuses. But despite a recent run in the team, it's not worked out as planned.

Morelos has hit the back of the net twice but reports in Brazil suggest his physical condition has sparked serious concerns. Globo say he has had 'difficulty in achieving his best physical shape,' an issue which reared its head under Gio van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale during his time in Scotland. It's added that his performances have been 'far below expectations' despite finding his shooting boots against Sao Paolo and Sao Bernardo. The net result is that he has reportedly been sent to train with the B-team and is out of Fabio Carille's plans for the foreseeable.

Santos expected more from the Colombian than his two-goal return in his 11 games this season particularly given the amount they are paying him per goal - 10,000 Brazilian dollars, or £1500, every time he hits the back of the net. It's claimed they want rid of him and are prepared to look into ripping up his contract if he can't find a new club.

The report claims Santos want to sign veteran free agent Alexandre Pato to help them regain promotion and would put Morelos' salary towards pursuing a deal. But they know moving the Colombian on won't be easy.
