GoCardless Kent Intermediate Cup Final: Hollands & Blair 5 Tonbridge Angels 2 match report
Substitute Lennon Reid scored a second-half hat-trick as Hollands & Blair won the GoCardless Kent Intermediate Cup Final against Tonbridge Angels.
Blair’s extra experience told in the end as their under-23s side got the better of an Angels outfit made up of under-19s.
But it was player-of-the-match Reid, who stole the show with a 16-minute treble to light up Chatham’s Maidstone Road ground.
Blair manager Joel Green said: “We started great and had the penalty which didn’t go our way.
“We were off the pace a little bit in the first half but the game changed in the second half.
“We took some opportunities that we weren’t carving out in the first half. The subs have come on and changed the game.
“When you have two goals go against you in a final in the top bin, there’s not much you can do, although we were disappointed with the space we gave them.”
On hat-trick hero Reid, coach Joel Lake added: “The fact he only came on at half-time showed real character.
“Lennon was excellent and once he scored one, he was looking for the second and third goals.
“The tactical change in shape really suited him in the second half and fair play to him for scoring a hat-trick.”
Blair should have been ahead inside three minutes when Jack Shepherd was fouled in the box. But Owen Edwards’ spot-kick was saved by the legs of keeper Jacob Hunt, the ball diverting onto the crossbar and then back into the hands of the grateful stopper.
Tonbridge went ahead on 11 minutes with the first of two spectacular strikes. Callum Finsham only had one thing in his mind as he collected the ball out wide, but he fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner.
Blair took just seven minutes to level when centre-back George Byrne converted after a corner was diverted
