Tonbridge Angels club captain Scott Wagstaff among four players leaving Longmead as retained and released list announced

Tonbridge Angels have confirmed the departure of club captain Scott Wagstaff in their retained and released list.

Wagstaff, 36, leaves after three-and-a-half years at Longmead, with his job coaching the youth team at Gillingham incompatible with Angels’ new daytime training schedule.

The former Charlton and Bristol City man intends to carry on playing at a lower level.

Also leaving Tonbridge are Tom Leahy, who has rejoined Maidstone, Marcus Sablier and Martell Taylor-Crossdale.

Naz Bakrin, Tobi Omole, Kyle Smith and Matty Warren have been offered new deals, while Angels are in discussions with Jordan Higgs and Sean Shields.

Bailey Akehurst, Bunmi Babajide, Ricky Korboa, Jordon Thompson and Bradley Williams have already signed new contracts.

Loanees Frankie Baker, Alfie Pavey, Matt Rowley and Ethan Sutcliffe have returned to their parent clubs.

“Tonbridge Angels would like to put on record its thanks and appreciation to those players leaving the club. We wish them all the very best for the future,” said a club statement.

Manager Alan Dunne, who guided Tonbridge to a 14th-placed finish, 17 points clear of the National League South relegation zone, is busy working on plans for next season.
