Former Millwall striker Tom Leahy turns down new deal at Tonbridge Angels to rejoin local rivals Maidstone United

Striker Tom Leahy says he’s back where he belongs after leaving Tonbridge for local rivals Maidstone.

Leahy, 22, was offered a new deal at Longmead after scoring 10 goals in 23 appearances for Alan Dunne’s side.

But he’s opted to rejoin the Stones, having had a spell on loan there from Millwall towards the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Angels will be due compensation as the player is under 24.

Shortly after Maidstone announced the signing, Leahy wrote on X: “Back where I belong.”

Leahy, who scored three times in 11 games in his previous spell at the Gallagher, becomes the first signing for new Maidstone manager Craig Fagan.

“Tom is a player we know all about,” said Fagan. “He’s hungry, hardworking, and has the ability to make a real difference for us. We’re pleased to welcome him back to Maidstone.”

Leahy started the 2025/26 campaign with Welling, following his release by Millwall, before becoming one of Dunne’s early signings when he joined Tonbridge in early November.

“Tonbridge Angels can confirm that forward Tom Leahy has departed the club to sign for Maidstone United, subject to compensation being agreed between the clubs,” said a club statement.

“We would like to thank Tom for his contribution last season and wish him well.”
