Gio van Bronckhorst dismisses Rangers 'hysteria' theory as boss insists 'I know the club'

Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst has moved to shut down any "hysteria" over the club's push for the title.

The champions failed to capitalise on Celtic 's slip up on Sunday as they were held by a battling Motherwell side at Ibrox.

That has ramped up the Premiership pressure going into the Wednesday night clash with St Johnstone.

The boss insisted he expects the scrutiny if Rangers failed to pick up results as he spoke ahead of the trip to Perth.

Van Bronckhorst was asked about an "air of hysteria" around the club over "tactics and the signings of Amad and Aaron Ramsey " and if he had expected the atmosphere "to be as intense as this".

Smirking, Van Bronckhorst said wryly: "Well, I know the club.

"I know the feeling of becoming a manager of a big club. It comes with pressure, it comes with questions.

"For me, that's what I expected, but for me, the most important thing is to be clear on the path we want to go, how we want to play and I know I'm responsible for the tactics, for picking the starting line-up so I don't need any advice or influence.
