Bastianini ‘super ready’ for lights out in Lusail

Having topped testing at Sepang with record-breaking pace Gresini Racing’s Enea Bastianini is counting the hours until MotoGP 2022 begins.

The inaugural race of the season at Qatar’s Lusail International Circuit also marks the first for Gresini as a fully independent outfit in the premier class as it begins its partnership with Ducati. Bastianini will run factory 22-spec Desmosedici for the 21-race calendar having completed his debut season on two-year-old machinery.

The number 23 secured a top ten finish on his maiden outing in Doha but with a bike now equal to Pecco Bagnaia and Jack Miller, amongst the throng of Ducati power taking to the 2022 grid, and after impressing in preseason alongside the two stunning podiums at Misano last year, the Italian will be one to watch.

“I must say we are super ready,” Bastianini confirmed ahead of the opening race of the year. “Testing was very good and as a team we are gelling very well together.

“I like the Qatari track and I did quite well in my MotoGP debut last year. We have more experience now so it’s time to stop talking and start racing! My physical preparation went very well, and I felt the bike as my own since the first day in Malaysia.”
