Gillingham sign midfielder Cameron Antwi from fellow League 2 side Newport County for an undisclosed fee
Gillingham have signed a midfielder who scored against them last weekend.
Newport County’s Cameron Antwi came off the bench to score at Priestfield last Saturday and has now completed a move to Gillingham.
He’s agreed a two-and-a-half year deal after moving for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old’s goal against the Gills put Newport 2-1 ahead at the time, and he celebrated in front of the Rainham End, showing his athleticism with an impressive somersault. Gareth Ainsworth’s men staged a late comeback, however, to win 3-2.
He also scored against Gillngham earlier this season in an FA Cup match.
Antwi, who was out of contract in the summer, joins from a Newport side struggling at the bottom of League 2.
He’s scored six goals this season from midfield and has been at Newport for 18 months, joining them in the summer of 2024 from Cardiff City.
