Gillingham captain Armani Little looks ahead to League 2 trip to Notts County on the back of 4-1 defeat to leaders Bromley
Captain Armani Little says Gillingham will “reset” ahead of the trip to Notts County.
The Gills are back in League 2 action at Meadow Lane on Tuesday night, just three days after losing 4-1 at home to leaders Bromley.
But there’s no time for sulking, according to their skipper.
“We have to dust ourselves off now,” stated Little. “We can't dwell on that.
“We have to reset as Tuesday's going to come around really quickly, so we have to get ready for that, recover and put everything into Tuesday night now.
“On our day, we can beat anyone in this league. We know that.
“We'll reset our heads and we'll put full focus to that and be confident and ready to go again.
“You don't want to have Saturday-Saturday when you lose 4-1, especially at home. It gives us another chance, another big opportunity.
“We're down at the minute, but we're not out of it. All roads lead to Tuesday now.”
Little was understandably downbeat after a dreadful first half saw the Gills concede three goals inside the opening half-hour against Bromley.
Former Gills man Ben Thompson went on to bag an impressive hat-trick with Corey Whitely scoring a stunning third goal on the break.
“They took their goals really clinically, but it's mistakes from us,” said Little. “When you do that against a top of the league side, they're going to punish you and it's hard to get back in the game.
“We have to cut that out and give ourselves more of a chance to go on and win.
“If you're conceding three goals in the first half, it's a mountain to climb so you do make it hard for yourself.
“You do have them off days. Unfortunately, that was against the leaders in our league and you can't afford to do that when they’re coming here with good confidence and momentum.”
