Gerrard 'will listen to offers for almost anyone' at Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard will not stand for poor performances and will listen to offers for almost any player in the Villans’ squad, says journalist Dean Jones.

Villa’s form has been really inconsistent of late, and Jones believes that is something Gerrard will not tolerate as he looks to raise the bar at the Midlands club.

Prior to their 2-0 win against Brighton, Villa had lost back-to-back games, both 1-0, to Watford and Newcastle United after throwing away a two-goal lead versus Leeds United in a 3-3 draw.

It left Gerrard fuming, with the 41-year-old letting it be known that he would not hesitate to make changes to his squad in the summer in order to improve the side.

“When we have another option to strengthen the team and squad we will take that opportunity. We will move the team forward,” he recently told the Daily Mail and other outlets. “My standards will always remain high and the players have seen that.”

Gerrard has already shown his ruthlessness in his short time at Villa Park, replacing Matt Targett with Lucas Digne as soon as he had the chance, so it would not be a surprise if more changes came before the start of next season.

Jones expects the Villa boss to continue to show that ruthless streak, especially if things do not pick up.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: “Steven Gerrard simply won’t stand for it. If you’re not hitting the levels he expects of you, he’ll tell the board that he needs them replaced, and he’ll listen to offers for almost anyone in that squad, I think.”
