£25m Aston Villa star will be 'angry' after fresh setback
Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne will be “angry” that he hasn’t been able to prove himself after suffering an injury on Sunday, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
The Frenchman could be set for a spell on the sidelines following a hamstring problem sustained in the defeat at West Ham.
It was an all round afternoon to forget for Villa, whose recent upturn in results came to an end at the London Stadium.
Villa had chances in the first-half, although goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Pablo Fornals after the interval meant that Jacob Ramsey’s late stunner was little more than a consolation.
That all came after Digne suffered a hamstring injury in the early stages and was forced off and replaced by Ashley Young inside the opening 10 minutes.
The injury came about when the £25m January signing from Everton was sprinting up the pitch and immediately told the Villa bench that he was unable to continue.
Steven Gerrard was unable to say when Digne might be back in action but did reveal that he’s an early doubt for the clash with Arsenal on Sunday.
Villa tweeted “you’ll be back stronger” on Monday afternoon, which appeared to suggest that Digne might be facing a spell on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Gerrard said. “He says it is a small muscle injury. We will analyse it with an MRI scan. I am positive in what Lucas has said to me, but he is obviously a major doubt for the Arsenal game.”
He told GIVEMESPORT: “It hasn’t been ideal at all, and he’ll be angry because he hasn’t been able to prove he’s worth his transfer.”
