Aston Villa can kickstart Steven Gerrard's crucial transfer window with three key sales

Some of Aston Villa's out-on-loan players are putting themselves in the shop window this season.

Keinan Davis netted a brace for Nottingham Forest last weekend while Matt Targett put in an accomplished display as Newcastle United narrowly lost out to Chelsea.

Frederic Guilbert 's Strasbourg are six games unbeaten and three points off second place in France's Ligue 1 with the right-back making his 26th appearance of the season on Sunday in a 1-0 defeat of AS Monaco.

Those three players are out-of-favour at Villa Park and likely to be sold in the summer.

It has been claimed that Targett has already agreed a £15 million move to Newcastle having found himself benched by Villa boss Steven Gerrard in favour of Lucas Digne, who was signed from Everton for £25 million in January.

Davis made an instant impact for Forest upon his loan move to Villa with the striker behind Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins in Gerrard's pecking order at Villa.

Davis now has four goals and two assists for Forest in 13 matches but his hold-up play and aggression up front has been key for Steve Cooper's play-off chasers.

Meanwhile Guilbert is enjoying life in France having found himself on the fringes with Matty Cash Villa 's starting right-back.

Guilbert is a fan favourite at Villa but is currently out on loan at Strasbourg, who have only lost four times all season and are well in the hunt for qualification to the Champions League.

If Davis continues his form and propels Forest into the play-offs they will look to try and keep him for next season.

Another loan deal is not in Villa's interests and they will look to get cash from either Forest or another team who may have looked at Davis' performances and think he fits the bill for them.
