Gary Neville rips into Chelsea AGAIN live on Sky Sports as he reacts to 'billion pound bottle jobs' backlash

Gary Neville refused to back down on describing Chelsea as "billion pound bottle jobs" in yesterday's 1-0 loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

Reds skipper and former Celtic star Virgil Van Dijk headed home what proved to be the winning goal just two minutes before the Wembley final was set to be decided on penalty kicks. Seconds after the Dutchman's goal, Sky Sports co-commentator Neville hit Mauricio Pochettino's team with the term and later vented his frustrations at Chelsea's performance in extra time against a Liverpool team that had to bring on three teenagers because of their ongoing injury crisis.

The reaction to Neville's comments has been mixed with Gary Lineker among the critics who felt Neville was too harsh. But ahead of Sky's live match between West Ham and Brentford tonight, the ex-Manchester United skipper reinforced his anger at Chelsea's inability to go out and win the game in extra time. He said: "I'm not going to say it was an instinctive commentary moment.

"I was getting angrier with Chelsea from the first minute of extra time because I could smell the fear in their team. Liverpool only had two players in Virgil Van Dijk and Luis Diaz on the pitch that would get into their team.

"Chelsea shrunk. Maybe 'bottle' is a strong word but they were playing with fear and froze. Ultimately I don't want it to stick with them because there are a lot of talented players there who may go on.

"I know there are people who have said: 'well Chelsea's team was younger than Liverpool's but when they (Liverpool) made those subs I put my mic down and said to Carra (Jamie Carragher) 'I actually don't know who some of these players are'.

"They were playing against Liverpool's reserves and didn't seize the moment.
