Manchester United ‘offered’ former Barcelona striker plus more transfer rumours
Manchester United have apparently been offered the chance to sign former Barcelona attacker Martin Braithwaite. The striker is currently plying his trade at Espanyol in the second tier of Spanish football and has 11 goals to his name.
United are limiting spending this month amid Financial Fair Play concerns. In fact, Erik ten Hag said on Friday that there is “no space” for any cost-based arrival due to FFP constraints following a £400m spend over the past two summers. That means only a cost-free loan transfer would be feasible.
A report from HITC claims that Braithwaite, now 32, has been offered to United as a potential last-gasp option. United need attacking reinforcement, especially with Anthony Martial out for 10 weeks following groin surgery.

However, United would have to ask that Espanyol continue to pay his wages in full amid a loan spell, which seems very unlikely as does a summer move of any kind. Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham and other Premier League clubs have apparently been made aware of Braithwaite’s availability.
The forward has already played in English football having featured for Middlesbrough in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 Championship seasons scoring eight times in 36 league games. He earned a shock move to Barcelona amid their former attacker crisis in 2020, and scored 10 times in 58 matches.
Meanwhile, football.london says that United would be first in line for Michael Olise should the Crystal Palace winger leave Selhurst Park this summer.
