Kylian Mbappe hands Manchester United blow in Victor Osimhen transfer pursuit

Manchester United could miss out on signing Victor Osimhen after reports suggest Kylian Mbappe has decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

The Athletic reported on Thursday that Mbappe wants a new challenge and plans to leave Parisian club. This is considered to be a big loss for PSG as they are not only losing one of the world's top players but he is also set to leave for free when his contract ends in the summer.

However, it appears PSG have been preparing for Mbappe's departure since January. The Athletic suggests that Napoli's star player is high on their list of replacements.

Last month, Napoli's president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed that Osimhen would be leaving. Should PSG decide to sign the Nigerian forward, it could be a big blow for United.

The Reds have held an interest in the forward since the summer pre-season tour when Erik ten Hag identified him as an option to bolster their depleted attack. However, after splashing the cash on Rasmus Hojlund, funds were not available for Osimhen to join the club.

Despite not scoring as many goals as last season, the 25-year-old remains one of the best strikers in European football. He has managed to bag eight in 18 appearances for the Serie A champions this team

As well as PSG, Osimhen is likely to receive interest from Chelsea and Arsenal this summer as they search for their own talisman. Paris Saint-Germain currently have a strong line-up of centre-forwards, with both Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo-Muani on their team.
