Full Met Office weather forecast as Storm Conall batters parts of UK

Parts of the UK are being hit by more heavy rain this week as Storm Conall sweeps over.

The downpours come after Storm Bert caused 'severe disruption' across much of the country last weekend as it brought 80mph winds, snowfall and heavy showers. Hundreds of homes and roads were left flooded, including in some parts of Greater Manchester on Saturday and Sunday.

Now some areas are being battered by Storm Conall - the third storm of the season, named by the Dutch Weather Service. Trains have been cancelled in parts of southern England amid the heavy rain while a yellow weather warning remains in place until midday today (Wednesday).

Around 15-20mm of rain is widely expected in the warning areas, which also cover London and the South West, while some places could get up to 30-40mm. Some travel disruption and flooding of 'a few homes and businesses' is likely.

Almost 100 flood warnings remain in place across the country. A further 156 alerts for possible flooding have been issued.

While the south is being battered by heavy rain, weather conditions in our region are expected to remain largely dry and bright throughout the rest of this week and the weekend. According to Met Office forecasters, sunny and cloudy intervals are predicted for Greater Mancehster throughout today, Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures are also set to rise slightly as we reach the weekend, with highs of 13C expected on Saturday and Sunday. There may, however, be some light rain showers over the weekend.
