With his victory in Japan, and Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez finishing in second place, Max Verstappen joined some of Formula 1's great when he secured his second F1 World championship.

Indeed, the result is a sweet reward for his and the team's hard work and dedication this season, turning a disadvantage into one of the biggest points advantages in the sport's history.

And with such a commanding grip on the 2022 season, it does not seem as though anyone will be able to stop the Dutchman as he races towards more championships.

His words after the Japanese Grand Prix spells nothing but an ominous future for his rivals as he sets his sights on more gold.

"I have a few more years in F1," Verstappen told the media about his future.

"I hope that we can be competitive for a few more years, I want to win more races, and potentially, I want to try and win more titles."

With his championship win, Verstappen joins a select group of F1 champions who won two consecutive titles. Some title winners had an easier job than others en route to the gold, while others had to work for it.
