Rickie Fowler has a share of the lead at the ZOZO Championship

Former world number four Rickie Fowler shares the half-way lead in the ZOZO Championship as he bids to end a three-year winless drought.

Fowler, who is competing on a sponsor's invite at Narashino Country Club, carded a second round of 63 for a half-way total of 10 under par which was matched by fellow American Andrew Putnam.

It is the 11th time in his career that Fowler has led or shared the lead after 36 holes, but the 33-year-old has only gone on to win on one occasion, securing the last of his five PGA Tour titles to date in the 2019 Phoenix Open.

"I wouldn't say I necessarily had my best swing wise, I just did a really good job of managing and accepting what I had," the world number 160 said. "But I can't complain about a 63."

LEADERBOARD

Putnam's bogey-free 62 saw him hold the course record for around an hour before compatriot John Huh went one better, the 32-year-old making six birdies in his first eight holes as he covered the front nine in just 28 shots.

Further birdies on the 10th, 14th and 16th left Huh needing to play the last two holes in two under to break 60, but he had to settle for a 61 to lie two shots off the lead.

Keegan Bradley is a shot behind the joint leaders after adding a 65 to his opening 66, with defending champion Hideki Matsuyama 10 shots adrift following rounds of 71 and 69.
