With speculation that Frank Lampard is the favourite to succeed Rafa Benitez as Everton boss mounting, the former Chelsea midfielder is already being touted to make Dele Alli his first signing for the Toffees.

The 25-year-old has become something of a forgotten man at Tottenham, and it is thought Antonio Conte has given the attacking midfielder the green light to move elsewhere before the window closes next Monday.

Alli, who has been linked with a January move to Goodison Park, has a long-time admirer in Lampard, with the ex-Derby boss once describing the England international as being “ahead of the game” in terms of his natural ability.

Speaking to Sky Sports in 2016, Lampard said: “I think Dele Alli is really confident in himself.

"He believes in his own ability and rightly so. Not many players come into a Premier League team and do what he's done. That's not the norm. That's Wayne Rooney, that's Michael Owen.”

Alli set the Premier League alight after making the £5 million switch to North London from MK Dons 2015.
