Lampard was appointed as Everton’s new boss on Monday following the sacking of Rafa Benitez after a dismal run of results and performances.
The former Chelsea and Derby County boss kicked-off his reign with a hard-fought 4-1 FA Cup victory over Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
Lampard was cheered by Blues supporters from the moment he watched his players warm-up before they sang his name during and after the game at Goodison Park.
“People around my age know exactly who he is,” Holgate said following the game when asked about his new boss.
“When I was big enough to start watching football, the boss was always one of the best players and one you wanted to watch all the way through.
“With people like him and Ashley (Cole), when they come in you are a little bit in awe of them, really.
