Manchester United enter the final stages of the season in much better shape than they were 12 months ago, under the management of Erik ten Hag. They have all but assured Champions League football next season, have already won the Carabao Cup and could still win the FA Cup, ending Manchester City's treble dream in the process.

When Ten Hag took the reins at Old Trafford, it was clear he had a major rebuilding job on his hands, and that's a job that will continue. But his work with the players he inherited, combined with some excellent transfer recruitment, has turned the Reds' ship around and the progress made in 12 months is clear.

Rashford has enjoyed the most prolific scoring season of his career, benefitting from Erik ten Hag’s arrival to such an extent that he has become almost irreplaceable. He’s been key to United’s progress this season.

Initially written off as a panic buy in August, the Brazilian has shown just why he was a huge part of Real Madrid’s success in Spain and in the Champions League. He’s brought a presence, calmness and quality that was sorely needed in the Reds’ midfield, and when he’s been suspended they’ve missed him badly.
