Former Manchester United star among six Leeds United returnees ahead of Wednesday's friendly

Former Manchester United winger Daniel James was among six Leeds United players reporting for training on Monday as the Championship side prepare for Wednesday's friendly.

United kick off their pre-season schedule against an old rival in the Norwegian capital of Oslo, but international commitments mean neither will be at full strength. Both teams welcomed back the first batch of players for testing early last week.

Leeds were relegated from the Premier League last season and have since hired Daniel Farke as manager, with Wednesday's game presenting the German's first chance to get a look at his new squad in action. As such, he is keen to involve as many players as possible.

James, who spent two full seasons with United before joining Leeds for £25million in 2021, was among six international players to report back for initial testing. The Welsh winger was joined by Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen, Helder Costa, Leo Hjelde and Kristoffer Klaesson - all are expected to play a role on Wednesday.

Farke was handed another boost last week with the return of Luis Sinisterra, who had been absent since April with an ankle injury. The Whites will be without Brenden Aaronson, Robin Koch and Diego Llorente who have all left on loan in recent days.

United's non-international contingent have been in training for a week and are expected to make up the core of Erik ten Hag's squad for the friendly. New signing Mason Mount was absent from England duty and could feature for the first time with his new club.
