Manchester United squad to face Real Madrid in pre-season friendly fixture

Manchester United will be hoping to build on Saturday's 2-0 win over Arsenal when they face Real Madrid in their latest pre-season friendly at the NRG Stadium in Houston on Wednesday evening (Thursday morning in the UK).

United made it three wins out of three in this summer's pre-season campaign with a relatively comfortable triumph over the Gunners, courtesy of goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho. Erik ten Hag deployed his strongest starting XI of the summer so far following the returns of his international contingent.

Just as he did against Leeds United and Lyon prior to flying out to the United States for the club's pre-season tour, the Dutchman made a collection of changes at half-time, making ten in total, handing first appearances of pre-season to the likes of Diogo Dalot, Christian Eriksen, Marcus Rashford and Casemiro.

It means the aforementioned quartet will be among those targeting starting berths against Madrid. United's academy players and a crop of youngsters from Ten Hag's first-team negotiated the 3-1 defeat to Wrexham in San Diego in the early hours of this morning, meaning the club's senior stars, as expected, are in line to take on Madrid.
